On a gloriously clear sunny afternoon we set off with a different approach to Clean Up Day.
Our aim was to clean the Marine Park and National Park information boards in our local area.
Equipped with ladder, buckets, sponges, water and environmentally friendly detergent we hit the road to clean up.Capri joined in, adding her scrubbing skills as part of the community service component of her Y Quest duties, a pilot leadership program initiated by the YWCA.
We travelled around the bay in search of signs needing some TLC and scrubbed as we saw the need, with much interest by passing workers and beachgoers.
As visitors attempted to read the White Sands Park Marine Park board through the thick grime from the adjacent traffic and the residue dropped from trees above, we waited
quite happy to stand back and enjoy the spectacular view out to Point Perpendicular.
Once cleaned this sign, like all the others we scrubbed, stood proudly glistening and readable ready for the next visitor to explore the wonders of Jervis Bay.At the finish of our work we were proud of our achievement. Not only did it help Clean Up Australia but gave us a refreshed love of the amazingly beautiful place we are fortunate enough to live in, care for and share with others.
